Denney & Guthrie - Turn My Back (LNM025)

Love Not Money pushes on again here with a new single and thier first Vinyl release, ‘Turn My Back’ from Hot Creations talent Denney alongside Guthrie, complete with three killer remixes by men of the moment Robert James, Tim Weeks and new discovery Electricano.

Denney has been fast on the rise in recent times with killer singles like his ‘Ultraviolet’ lighting up dancefloors everywhere and getting much praise from people like MANDY and Seth Troxler, whilst as a DJ he has played Shindig, Back to Basics and Sankeys, impressing each and every time.

The original track is a fat wedge of house with snappy snares and tinkling cowbells thudding along below a cooing female voice. It all turns techno at the mid point with acid wig outs and the r&b vocal suddenly sounds familiar… a floor filling bomb and no mistake.

Hot Creations man Robert James takes the remix in his usually inimitable style, stripping it back to a gaunt tech house beat that’s eerie and mysterious with more than a hint of the old school about it. The snaking bassline draws you right in where new label discovery Electricano goes larger for his remix. The bassline here whips about below a well-chopped vocal as some ghostly synth sounds flash in the spaces all around.

Finally, Tim Weeks’ FM bassline is all consuming as it roams free beneath wooden sounding hits and sandy shakers. It’s one to take you down deep into the late night hours in some cosy backroom, for sure, and closes out another fine EP from Love Not Money.

Released on limited Vinyl 18th Feb 2013
Released on Digital 4th March 2013
